In a small town in Texas, an eight-year-old boy named Adam loves to play in his backyard, pretending to be a superhero helping people with their everyday problems. One day, he helps a turtle that’s flipped onto its back and finds a lost bell that he returns to its owner, Mr. Miguel. Adam becomes fascinated by a glowing orb called a Will-o’-the-Wisp, a friendly spirit that guides lost travelers, which Mr. Miguel possesses. Adam visits Mr. Miguel daily, learning about the Wisps and other mystical creatures. One evening, they follow a Wisp to a gathering place in the forest, where many Wisps share their stories. One Wisp fills Adam with a warm feeling and he senses he’s been chosen for something special. Later, they meet a forest guardian, Elara, who tells Adam he has a responsibility and there is much to learn. They venture deeper into the forest to begin this new journey.
