The climax of their adventure: the map leads them to a spot on Mount Rainier. They embark on a hike, overcoming physical and emotional challenges by supporting and respecting one another. At the summit, Alex and their friends discover a hidden cave. Inside, they find not treasure, but a series of messages left by previous adventurers, teaching lessons of respect and kindness. The group returns to the library to return the map. They find the librarian, who reveals she knew about their quest all along and discusses the real treasure being the journey and friendships formed.
