Emma moves to Washington DC with her family. Everything is new and big, and she feels a bit lost. On her first day exploring, she accidentally leaves her favorite map at the Lincoln Memorial. Emma decides to go back to the Lincoln Memorial to find her map. Along the way, she faces challenges like navigating the busy city streets and dealing with the city’s bustling crowds, learning to ask for directions and use public transportation. While searching for her map, Emma meets a friendly local boy named Alex and his dog, Max. They offer to help Emma in her search. Together, they explore different landmarks like the Smithsonian Museum and the National Zoo, learning more about the city. The search leads them to the National Archives. Here, Emma learns about the importance of adaptability and embracing change. They finally find her map, but it’s torn. Alex helps her fix it, symbolizing her growing adjustment to her new life. Emma decides to create a new map of her own, including all the places she has discovered and the friends she has made. She shares this new map with her school, helping other new kids find their way around. Emma feels more at home in Washington DC. She realizes that while the city is big, her courage and adaptability are even bigger. Emma now sees the city not just as a place full of landmarks, but as a place full of new possibilities and friendships.
