Description

Jason moves to a small town in East Texas and feels out of place. He misses his old home but soon meets a dog named Max who seems to have no owner. Jason starts school and learns about the upcoming school fair. He decides to enter a pie-baking contest, hoping to make new friends. Jason tries to bake a pie, but he struggles. His neighbor, Mrs. Lopez, teaches him how to make a delicious apple pie. They talk about fairness and treating everyone equally. Jason goes to the local market to buy ingredients for his pie. He notices some kids from school being unfair to another new student, Sarah. Jason stands up for Sarah and tells the other kids that being unfair isn’t right. The kids apologize, and Jason and Sarah become friends. Jason’s pie gets ruined by a raccoon the night before the contest. He feels hopeless and worried about the fair. Sarah and Mrs. Lopez help Jason make a new pie. They work together, sharing the work and having fun. At the fair, Jason presents his pie. He feels proud but notices some judges being unfair in another contest. Jason speaks out about the unfairness he sees at the fair. People are surprised but listen to him. The judges start judging more fairly. Jason wins second place in the pie contest. He is happy because he knows the contest was fair. After the fair, Jason reflects on the importance of fairness with his new friends. They celebrate their success and friendships. Jason finds out that Max belongs to an elderly lady who recently couldn’t take care of him. Jason decides to help take care of Max. Jason starts a club at school to promote fairness. Many students join, and they plan activities to help everyone feel included and treated equally. Jason feels content in his new home, knowing that he has made a positive change. He looks forward to more adventures with Max and his friends, continuing to spread fairness wherever he goes.
