In the small town of Bastrop, a curious boy named Charles lives with his parents who own a bakery. One day, his mother asks him to take a loaf of bread and a basket of berries to his grandmother, who lives beyond the forest. As he ventures through the forest, Charles encounters and helps various animals in need, including a trapped bluebird, a turtle stuck on its back, and a deer caught in a thicket.
