Description
Harrison moves to a small town in Virginia and feels out of place, missing old friends. At school, Harrison notices some classmates aren’t being treated fairly during a game of kickball, sparking a desire to make things right. Harrison sees that some students are always picked last for team sports because they aren’t as fast or strong. Feeling that this isn’t fair, Harrison decides to speak up but is ignored by the other kids, which makes Harrison more determined to change things. Harrison comes up with a plan to make games more inclusive. They talk to their teacher, Mrs. Lee, about organizing a school event that focuses on teamwork and fairness, not just winning. Mrs. Lee loves the idea and helps set it in motion. The day of the event arrives, and not everything goes as planned. Some kids still want to play the old way, which leads to arguments. Harrison feels overwhelmed and wonders if changing things was a mistake. With Mrs. Lee’s encouragement, Harrison gives a small speech about why fairness is important. The students start to understand and decide to try Harrison’s way. The event ends successfully with everyone having fun and feeling included. The new way of playing becomes popular, and Harrison feels proud of making a change. The students learn that everyone deserves a chance to play and be part of the team. Harrison also makes new friends and feels happy in their new home, knowing they’ve helped make school a fairer place for everyone.
