A Craftbeacon story.

Max moves to Seoul, South Korea, with their family. They struggle with the new language and miss their old friends but are curious about the bustling city and its culture. On Max’s first day at their new school, they feel out of place and overwhelmed. They can’t understand the teacher well and make a few cultural mistakes, which makes them feel even more isolated. Max decides to explore Seoul but gets lost. The signs are confusing, and Max doesn’t speak Korean well. They start to panic but then meet a kind local kid, Ji-hoon, who offers to help. Ji-hoon invites Max to join a local scavenger hunt. Max is nervous because it involves a lot of interaction with locals and navigating the city, but they decide to accept the challenge. As they prepare for the scavenger hunt, Max starts learning more Korean phrases and cultural norms from Ji-hoon. They begin to feel a bit more confident and make some new friends. Max and their team face various challenges that test their problem-solving skills and adaptability. Max starts enjoying the adventure, despite the hurdles. During the scavenger hunt, Max’s team takes a wrong turn and ends up in a part of Seoul they haven’t explored. They must rely on Max’s newly learned Korean to ask for directions. The last clue in the scavenger hunt leads the team to a historic palace. Max must use all their knowledge about Korean history learned from Ji-hoon to solve the final puzzle. Max’s team wins the scavenger hunt. Max feels proud but realizes the real win is the friends made and the lessons learned about adapting to new situations. Back at school, Max feels more confident. They are more engaged in class and start participating in more school activities, using their improved Korean skills. Inspired by their own experiences, Max starts a club for new students to help them adapt and feel welcomed in the school, sharing tips on language and culture. Max reflects on their journey of moving to Korea, realizing that while the initial adaptation was challenging, it led to personal growth and a feeling of belonging in their new home.
