Description
Billy, a young boy in Phoenix, Arizona, eagerly anticipates the annual Phoenix Rodeo and grand parade, led by Sheriff Tom. While on his way to the parade, Billy finds a small, scruffy dog tangled in ropes by the rodeo grounds and frees it. The dog follows Billy to the parade, where Billy spots an old cowboy playing a harmonica. The cowboy catches Billy’s eye and tips his hat, a gesture that seems to hold a deeper meaning. After the parade, at a festival in the town square, Billy sees the cowboy again and decides to approach him. The cowboy gives Billy a map leading out of town and suggests that the dog found Billy for a reason. The story ends with Billy tucking the map into his pocket, ready to embark on a new adventure with the dog by his side.
