The children encounter an old man who claims to be the keeper of the treasure. He challenges them to prove their worthiness. To gain the old man’s trust and access the treasure, Tom faces his fears and completes a daring task, demonstrating true bravery. With the old man’s approval, Tom and his friends find the hidden vault beneath an ancient oak tree in Grant Park, unlocking it with a key they earned. The vault reveals not only valuable civil war artifacts but also letters and photographs that tell the historical significance of their find. The children decide to donate their find to the Atlanta History Center, ensuring the treasure can be enjoyed and learned from by all. As recognition of their bravery and contribution to preserving history, Tom and his friends are honored in a special ceremony, leaving Tom proud and inspired.
